I have been told that I need to conduct some accelerated testing on truck batteries. I have the QALT software, but my question right now is designing the test. I am curious if anyone has done this kind of testing before and how they did it or if they have any suggestions on how the best way to go about setting up the test. Any help would be appreciated.

John,
Maybe this would get more answers if you were a little bit more specific.

1. What type of Batteries?
2. Have you identified a stress that you plan to use?

Default The battery that I am testing

The battery that I am testing is like a regular car battery. As for the stress, I was thinking about using temperature. This is the first time I have tested a battery like this so I would like to keep it simple, if possible. I would like to know if there is a standard procedure for testing batteries that I could follow.

Can I ask what accelerated battery tests you came up with. Did you use the Industry standard tests for automotive batteries or did you develop your own specific test.

before you design a reliability test, you must know the FAILURE MECHANISM of the product... ie under what circumstances/conditions does the FAILURES occur. then you design tests base on the physical factors that affect FAILURES, eg humidity, temperature, etc... ask your customers, what kind of defects do they frequently see in batteries after 1yr or so usage
