Hi all,

I'm a Mechanical Engineering Student and I want to estimate the remanent usefull life of a System and to reach that I want to estimate the Reliability of the Whole System, How can I get that? Do I have to estimate the reliability of each subsystem and each component to get that? or simply I can get the reliability of the system using the failures ocurred until now no matter the subsystem?. Do I have to consider the critical components wich can determine the usefull life of the system?. Exist another way to estimate the remanent usefull life of a System?.

Thanks.

The methods you mention will work. With respect to looking at subsystems, this is not necessary given that your objective is only to estimate the system reliability, in other words you can treat the entire system as a black box.

Thank you very much, that information will be very usefull.
