Experience:
At least 2 years experience either working for a major test lab, or interfacing with major test lab agencies for the performance and testing of electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics products.
Strong background in statistical analysis and reliability testing
Strong problem solving skills including experimental design and its execution.
(Preferred) B.S.E.E. or equivalent.
Lab-View experience a plus.
(Preferred) CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) certificate.
(Preferred) RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) experience (esp. understanding the European directives, how they apply to products and how to meet those standards).
Experience working with overseas manufacturing including Asia, Europe and Mexico.
Job Purpose Statement:
This position is responsible for supporting the efforts of the PSER team in meeting its Department goals. Works towards the efforts of PSER with Department Senior Engineers and Leads in order to ensure that WMS products are Reliable, Safe, meet their EMC requirements, and are submitted to the market without undue delays.
Works on more complex issues
Uses defined procedures and practices to resolve problems
Complexity:
Problems are of moderate scope
Discretion:
New projects reviewed, routine projects less so
Information/Directions From:
Senior Engineers, Department Leads, Department Meetings, Company/Industry Documentation, and Department Guidelines.
Interaction:
Have some external contacts
Supervised:
General instructions on routine projects
Detailed instructions on new projects
Major Duties/Essential Job Functions:
Be a team member of the reliability testing lab including:
Organizing the reliability test lab around ISO 25 requirements.
Participate in design reviews and make suggestions to improve product quality, reliability and maintainability.
Create and execute reliability test plans.
Organize, plan, perform and report testing results.
Assist in the maintenance of the reliability laboratories.
Perform Life tests and accelerated life tests, including the design and building of test fixtures, and statistical analysis of data.
Design and build test fixtures for use at outside agencies for the performance of HALT testing as well as HASS tests.
Maintain and respond to field issues with comments and test reports and recommendations.
Design tests that can reproduce field problems or verify fix implementation.
Ensure product compliance with regulatory directives and agency guidelines.
Be committed to good professional practices, servicing internal customers, and support department test groups.
Be familiar with, both domestic and international compliance standards affecting WMS products.
Understand and implement the guidelines of the quality manual, technical documentation, process descriptions, policies, and procedures at the department and corporate levels.
Estimate time required to complete assignments.
Report project progress on a regular basis to Senior Engineers and PSER Leads. In addition, immediately inform all groups affected, when the results of a program vary from the expected standards, cost, and time objectives.
Ensure that projects are completed within departmental guidelines, company policies and professional standards. Maintain pertinent documents to provide project historical records.
Participate in Department meetings, communicate project and schedule information, discuss test plans, project status, and resolution of technical concerns or problems with internal customers and the PSER teams.
Maintain professional proficiency within the field. Investigate new technologies
Develop testing procedures
Ensure that specifications, drawings, test plans, quotations, raw data, and reports satisfy the specification requirements before they are published.
Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
Ensure that department procedures and processes are followed.
Maintain and enhance the accreditation of the department group.
Work with other departments (i.e. software, mechanical, etc) to ensure the updating of the units tested.
Keep all the test equipment updated and calibrated, and in good working order.
Multi task oriented.
Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
