Hi All!

How can I specify <Other Costs> like <Cost per hour> in blocks' properties and <Other Costs> in pools properties?
These are discussed in Hotwire-47, but, unfortunately, I could not find how to set these properties in <Block properties>.

Thank you in advance!

In addition the ‘Misc. Cost Per Action’ in the Corrective/Preventive/Inspection tabs in the ‘Maintenance’ tab of the block properties, you can specify costs per incident and per unit time for when the crews are performing the Corrective/Preventive/Inspection actions (you can access these costs properties by clicking on the ‘Assign’ button. Also, you can specify costs related to part acquisition, spare pools and parts restocking by clicking on the ‘Create New Spare pool’ under Spare Part Pool in the ‘Maintenance’ tab of the block properties.

Note that some other deterministic costs can be combined to the results of the simulation’s cost analysis results. In addition, other probabilistic costs (for example related to loss of production or downtime) can be computed after knowing the downtime/uptime estimates obtained with the simulation.

Thanks, Tarik.

I would like to find out how to set the operating cost of a block per unit time, e.g. the cost of block's functioning when it is neither down nor being repaired.
If I understand it clearly, 'Misc. Cost Per Action’ in the Corrective/Preventive/Inspection tabs in the ‘Maintenance’ tab means additional costs per incident of Correction/Prevention/Inspection, while costs per unit time for when the crews are performing the Corrective/Preventive/Inspection actions are not the cost of normally functioning block.
How can I set up the cost of normally functioning block in BlockSim?

Thanks.

Yes, your understanding of these costs is correct.

There is no field in the block’s property that is dedicated for ‘cost of operation’ during uptime. To include the costs of operation into your analysis, I suggest that, after you run the simulation and obtain the results reports, you can use the Block Summary report under Blocks in the Simulation Results Explorerto obtain the Block Uptime, using the figure you see in that table you can multiply it by a cost/unit time to obtain your total operating(uptime) cost of that block for the entire simulation time.

So, the <Operating cost/hour> in http://www.weibull.com/hotwire/issue47/hottopics47.htm (Figure 2: Block properties) can be taken into account only "manually"? How can I get system's blocks analysis like on the last table in http://www.weibull.com/hotwire/issue47/hottopics47.htm?

Thank you!

That is a table that was constructed manually using the procedure I described in my last reply.
