Hi all,

I am currently doing a research about machine reliability and maintainability. Focusing on the maintenance policy (i.e replacement, repair policy),I still don`t understand how the policy was implemented. Mean, how the failure data will be used in the policy to get the result. I need the suggestion or opinion or any artiles that show the steps of maintenance policy analysis.

Than You, r@!

I suggest you read the following material:
http://www.reliasoft.com/newsletter/v6i2/maintenance_strategies.htm
http://www.weibull.com/SystemRelWeb/preventive_maintenance.htm

You are going to need also to determine a life distribution that models your machine (data can be obtained from failure and repair logs, details can be found in the second tool tip in http://www.weibull.com/hotwire/issue56/tooltips56.htm ). Life data analysis
is discussed in a lot of details in http://www.weibull.com/lifedatawebcontents.htm.

Let me know if you have more questions.

hai all,

First of all, thanks to tarik to give me the sources of information. For your information my research focus is regarding the investigating the impact of dust particles (in extreme condition) on machine reliability and maintainability. The main objective is to develop the optimum maintenance policy in term of minimize the total maintenance cost and increase the reliability level.

At this moment I need any suggestion or opinion or share the related information.

Best Regards

i have total PM, corrective maintenance cost for the 30 year of an complete machine.
based on that my LCC Cost is going beyond the target level for the project , wht should i do?

cheers

Jitendra,
Typically when cost of maintenance become too high, then preventive maintenance or performing overhaul might be the best way to go. But note also that when you start having to do preventive maintenance very often then at some point, you will need to overhall the subsystems or the entire system.

Dear Mr. Tarik,
i understand your view, but i wann to say that i hv made LCC sheet, but i found to be that cost is somewht higher than what we want.
i follow all PM, Corrective, overhaul too. but Total LCC is somewht high thn the target level. so wht modification shld i do.
i don't think tht further i can reduce that maintenance frequency.

It 's hard to answer why your costs are higher then you expected without knowing more about your system and repair details

Hello,
i think you have to collect some data about the failures modes that atack your machine.
This is the first step.

Dear Tarik,
Thx but can you overlook over the thread Life cycle cost in the discussion form created by myself for better know your mention concern for my system problem.

PLEASE see enclosed file for any concern with that thread.

hi all

i need to calculate the design based reliability for the pump by considering the critical components which are causing the rejection of the pump ...
so what type of data i have to collect for the calculation of reliabilty.
