I am very interested in a step by step process of how to achieve the optimum preventive maintenance replacement time using Weibull++ as described in the ReliaSoft "Reliability EDGE" Qtr 2,2000 issue.

Calculating the optimum replacement time using Weibull++ 5 involves the use of the General Spreadsheet and the Function Wizard. Within a Data Folio, insert a General Spreadsheet by selected New General Spreadsheet from the Insert menu (if you do not already have one available). A blank spreadsheet like Excel will appear. Select Function Wizard from the Tools menu. Scroll through the list of functions until you reach Table of Optimum Replacement Times. Five input boxes are available. The first three inputs on the left indicate the time range and increment for table to be generated. On the right specify the cost for the planned and unplanned replacement. Once the desired inputs have been entered click on OK. A table will be inserted within the General Spreadsheet. The optimum replacement time for the interval you have specified will be the point at which the Cost/Unit Time is at a mininmum.
