I am unable to use this feature in Weibull++6. What could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

The option 'Allow user to alter parameters' in the User Setup must be checked. You can get to the User steup from the File Menu. This option is in the Data Folio tab of the User Setup.

The user setup has been crossed/checked. Is this some software glitch?

We are not aware of any issues. Depending on which option you are attempting to use please note the following:

Option 1: Alter Parameters (No Recalculate), which allows you to alter the values of the corresponding calculated parameters. The other parameters will not be recalculated. This option is available for all distributions and all analysis methods (so it should be enabled).

Option 2: Alter 1 Parameter and Recalculate allows altering of weibull parameters and recomputing the rest through the following sub menus: This is only available under certain conditions as outlined next:

2.1 - Alter Beta is enabled for the Weibull 2-parameter or 3-parameter distribution and MLE only. This option allows you to alter the value of beta, and then recalculate the other parameters based on the new value of beta.

2.2 - Alter Eta is enabled for the Weibull 2-parameter or 3-parameter distribution and MLE only. This option allows you to alter the value of eta, and then recalculate the other parameters based on the new value of eta.

2.3 - Alter Gamma is enabled only for Weibull 3-parameter distribution and both MLE and regression analysis. This option allows you to alter the value of gamma and then recalculate the values of beta and eta based on the new value of gamma.

The above information can also be found in the documentation and help files.

Does this help?

I understand all the options, thank you.
I cant use Option 2 as its not highlighted such that I can pick the parameter to change them.
Thanks

Your solutions have not solve the alter parameter problem. I think you have a software bug/problem with Weibull 6++, as I have used the same feature with Weibull 5.32.

I cant find any issues with it. It should be enabled and disabled based on the conditions given in the previous email.

The best and most efficient way to to help you with this, at this point, is to ask you to call us (call our Support at 520-886-0366). They can take you through the process in a step by step fashion.

I got the alter parameter to work. It required the "true 3P MLE on weibull" to be checked.
Some more questions for you:
1. What is this true 3P MLE? I thought that Weibull++ calculates the gamma using a non-linear algorithm, transorms the data and computes the beta and eta parameters using MLE.
2. If the location parameter is calculated using true 3P MLE, then the fisher matrix display in QCP is incomplete as it does not display the 3rd row and column?
Thanks in advance.
