I am looking into the use of Extreme Value Theory Stats in rock mechanics i was wondering if any advice could be given on how it could be related. I understand that weibull can be used to predict failure but i believe using extremes would give to low a factor of safety for the use in mining? Also could Weibull be used for the reliability of support in excavations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not very much sure about your problem case, still i can say that you have to collect the porosity factor, rock toughness, deteriorating rate of with environmental factor of rock etc.

I prefer you just try to collect all possible stress and strength , load factor for your rock case. Let me know detail abt ur problem case.

Hope u can proceed now
