The terms Mean life, Guaranteed life, characteristics life are used in texts. What are the difference between these? Whar are the implications if we use these figures for logistics planning?
Can we have some discussions please.

Well,
Mean Life is defined based on the mean of the distribution. See http://www.weibull.com/LifeDataWeb/lifedataweb.htm for more details.
Characteristic life has been commonly equated with the scale parameter (eta) of the Weibull distribution and is the time by which 63.2% of the units will fail.
Guaranteed life -- I am not aware of a definition on this but my interpretation would be time by which a certain percentage failed (similar to B10 life etc. – i.e. time by which 10% failed).
