I have a parallel redundancy situation with, say, 3 branches, each and in each branch there are 2 items in series.
The first item in the branch (1) has a different repair group than the second (2). If 1 fails, the system does not fail but a repair is triggered for 1 and an inspection & repair is triggered for 2. And vice versa. So when an item in the branch fails, the whole branch is reset to new (even though the system is not down). Also, repair group 1 (only 1, not 2) has a long logistic delay time.
My question is this - if during the logistic delay time for repair on item 1, item 2 fails, will it issue a (successful) call for repair by repair group 2? For item 2, the inspection is carried out by repair group 1. In a more general sense, what happens to components who are in series configuration with a failed item in a branch of a parallel system?
Thanks for your help
