View Full Version : Logistic Delay Time

I need to incorporate a logistic delay time in to my crew policy - it takes a time for repair crew to get to the site. However, once repair crew is onsite, the logistic delay is no longer necessary. I am trying to simulate a large number of objects, and the situation does arise when repairs need to occur simultaneously. The logistic time period is fairly large compared to the time increments I am interested in, so doubling this delay is not desirable.

My question is this: How does logistic delay add in Blocksim 7? Per repair, or per activation? Is there a way to set up the simulation so that logistic delay only happens once? If a block calls for corrective maintenance, and other blocks are inspected using the same crew due to that maintenance action, is the logistic delay added per block or only once?

Thanks

Jennifer

Dear Jennifer,
Unfortunately, BlockSim applies the logistic delay to every repair, regardless of if the crew is performing a repair, when it is requested again.
I will add this as a suggestion for future consideration in our software.

Thanks.

A follow up question:

If a repair crew is called for a corrective maintenance action (caused by failure, system is down), and other blocks are set to preventative maintenance upon system down, but are not assigned a repair crew - is the "assumed" repair crew 1) the defined crew for the corrective maintenance? 2) a generic crew with no attributes? i.e. logistic delay would not be counted, since it is not set?

Thanks!

Dear Jennifer,
CMs/PMs and inspections can have different crews. The logistic delay will apply to the action that utilizes a crew with logisctic delay. If other blocks are associated with other crews with no logistic delays or no crew (which assumes infinite availability and no delays), then there will not be a logistic delay associated with those actions.
