I believe the correct appendix to be referred to in Kececioglu's "Reliability Engineering Handbook, Vol 1." is Appendix E not G-2 as shown.

As you mention, the reference in the hotwire article is not correct. In reality it should be Appendix G of the Reliability and Life Testing Handbook, Vol 1 (http://www.reliasoft.com/books/kcbooks.html).
G-1 corresponds to Appendix E in the Reliability Engineering Handbook Vol1 (http://www.reliasoft.com/books/kcbooks.html) which is the standard test. However, the article makes reference to tests for specific distributions. For example, Appendix G2 in the Reliability and Life Testing Handbook, Vol 1 (http://www.reliasoft.com/books/kcbooks.html) shows critical values for the exponential distribution.
