In a set of field data with a large population (several thousand samples and mostly suspensions) over a year and a half, Weibull++7 with a mixed Weibull shows 2 clear subpopulations with betas of about 0.7 and 2.0. We know of at least three predominant failure modes. Is there a way to specify subpopulations in Weibull++ 7 rather than just let the tool select them? With such a large population, is there an easy way to separate out subpopulations with each of the predominant failure modes for separate analysis?

Thank you

Hi JJPEngr,

Are the failure modes competing with each other? If yes, then you can also do a competing failure modes analysis. This analysis requires that you know the failure mode for each failure. The failure mode is entered in the Subset ID column. Additional information on competing failure modes analysis can be found at http://www.weibull.com/LifeDataWeb/competing_failure_modes.htm.

You can extract specific modes from the overall data based on the failure modes entered in the Subset ID column using the Batch Auto Run. The Batch Auto Run can be accessed by selecting Batch Auto Run from the Data menu.

I hope this helps.
