Vahid,
That’s a broad question that no simple answer in this discussion group can address. You may wish to review reliability principles at Weibull.com and/or other sites. Should you then have a specific question, the members of this group may be able to better assist you.

dear pantelis
tanks for your help.
I woulld like to inform you that our company is going to develop new bi-fuel engine .
We as Quality Assurance Department need to follow the quality of engine development process.
In this way we introduce Reliability of engin as quality index to evaluate system and subsystems of new engine.
But this index is very new for us and we need to know more about it.
So it would be pleased if you tell me about reliability calculation .
with best regards

Dear Vahid
I would recommend you start by looking at http://www.weibull.com/LifeDataWeb/reliability_engineering.htm
then for system analysis as you describe look at:

Follow related links for items that are new to you.

Hi Vahid ,
The core thing in this is more of design and testing . All sub assemblies and cause of failure of each sub component that goes into the assembly of the auto engine has to be tested to get their individual reliability .Eg rel of the Fuel injection system , Carburettor or a Injector , Electronic control unit , cooling system pump etc .. since all these systems working in series or parallel decide the complete reliability of the whole system that is the automotive engine .
This can be done by extensive testing at acclerated or operating conditions depending upon the time frame for completion of the project .
after this using Block sim and Alta which are softwares available in the website www.weibull.com . we could find out the reliability of the whole system ie the auto engine in your case.
hope that answers your question .
