Hi,

I am setting up a reliability database based on warranty returns for an automotive supplier. The warranty returns come from his customer. But the problem is the supplier think the warranty returns don't reflect the failures of his product (fuel tank). For 100 warranty returns he receives from his customer for analysis he accepts the responsability only for 5 or 10. How can I set up a reliability database with this unreliable warranty returns ? Is there an alternative ?

Thank you

You need a way to distinguish the two. One way we at ReliaSoft do it (and also implement in our QTMS System http://www.reliasoft.com/enterprise/fracas.htm) is to categorize the failure as “Chargeable” and “Non-Chargeable”.

Chargeable failures count towards your reliability analysis whereas “Non-Chargeable” are treated differently (i.e. as suspensions if collateral failures) etc.

Obviously you can choose the words and the nomenclature to match your client’s needs.
