Optimal Software Reliability Model

hello,
i am MS-Student, and doing my MS-Reserach Thesis.
i am going to propose a framework, which optimally selects the test cases from large pool of test suites using coverage-based and distribution-based techniques. my question is :
if we have large number of test cases using automated tools, can using this idea we reduce the cost of testing. or any other comment about this regard is highly appreciable
